About Blint Builders
We Listen, Design and Build
We are a well established Company that has designed and built thousands of home extensions in Melbourne’s South Eastern Suburbs for over 35 years. We are an HIA Multi Award Winner including First Prize for Design and Construction of a ground and upper storey extension in Brighton. This was the second home we had extended for the same family.
Blint Builders will work from owner supplied drawings, but we strongly recommend you leave it to us. Allowing the builder to do it all puts the responsibility squarely where it belongs and greatly reduces the likelihood of errors.
When dealing with Blint Builders you need only deal with the one person until construction commences. Your Design Consultant will make sure the design and cost fit within your realistic budget. They will arrange all permits including the more difficult task of obtaining Town Planning approvals, and will liaise with Engineers, Surveyors, and Statutory Bodies and package the entire project into a simple form for your approval.
Design Consultants
Our Design Consultants are a highly talented group of individuals who have a particular talent in specific areas of the design and estimating process and have been recognised by the Industry with many awards.
After a brief consultation at the initial enquiry stage we will send a Design Consultant that best suits your specific needs. Your Design Consultant is trained to design your project around the demanding requirements of Res Code, Heritage Overlays, Flood Zones, Town Planning, Engineering, Statutory Regulations and deliver you a design that adds value to your existing home for your immediate and future family needs.
Resale value of your valuable asset is forefront in their minds also. Blint Builder’s policy of predominantly working in the local area means we have become quite an authority on both local council requirements and the styles and designs of post-war homes. So whilst designing an extension that enhances your family’s life, we are also mindful of your home’s future worth.
Project Supervisors
Our Project Supervisors come from very strong building backgrounds and are qualified to manage your project from start to completion. They are trained in-house in the rigorous procedures and methods devised by Blint Builders to ensure the accurate and smooth running of your project. They are trained to take into account you and your family’s requirements ensuring the least amount of disruption whilst you are still in residence.
Subcontractors
Our tradespeople are regular subcontractors, most of their work comes from Blint Builders, so they know the standard of work expected from them. All our trades are chosen for their respect for each other and for you and your home.
History of Blint Builders
As a small boy Ron would visit his grandfather. He knew he was going to be a carpenter and builder; it was in his blood. As he held a freshly sharpened panel saw in his little boy hand with his grandfather’s loving, warm instructional hand over his, he would guide the saw gently over a straight line drawn on the plywood. There was no other place he would rather be. That feeling stayed with Ron as he went through Prahran Tech and then onto Swinburne Technical College to complete a Building Technicians course. An apprenticeship followed until Ron started his own business in 1972. The need to be self-employed never weakened and his skills and experience built every day.
From simple beginnings doing maintenance for Estate Agents to more adventurous projects such as his first 'second storey extension' in Mulgrave, Ron saw his career in domestic construction.
As his name became more widely known it became obvious that in order to grow the business, sound business knowledge was required. This came in the form of a mentor named Kevin Bolton. Blint Builders moved from working out the back of a panel van to a professional premises.
After moving the modest business out of his home in the 1990s Blint Builders found a prominent location in the heart of McKinnon. Industry awards were not uncommon.
Ron’s philosophy was to only work within a 4km radius of the Office, which soon grew to the entire South Eastern suburbs.
A good business attracts good staff, so the next measured period of growth took place under very strict guidelines. In 2008 Ron acquired a business partner by the name of Kris Rollinson. Ron saw the natural business talents evolve in Kris as he worked his way up through the ranks where he started as a Construction Supervisor four years earlier.
All of Ron's philosophies and procedures are well entrenched now and the business has weathered many downturns over some 37 years to stand proudly as one of Melbourne's business success stories.
Blints now employs some 8 Design Consultants each with unique skills, 4 Construction Supervisors, a Construction Manager, 11 staff and approximately 70 regular subcontractors.
Today Blint Builders is one of the more successful builders in Melbourne with an enviable reputation throughout the industry.
Ron and Kris expect the proven formula to continue to build great extensions and new homes for many more years to come.
